The 76th annual Honors Concert was held Saturday, May 21 in downtown Minneapolis.

Three local piano students, who were winners in the Minnesota Music Teachers Association State Piano Contest, performed in a mass piano recital at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

Jordyn Anderson, daughter of Jon and Patty Anderson, and Bethany Hellem, daughter of Scott and Julie Hellem, are students of Annette Helder of Brandon. Kendra Sukke, daughter of Tim and Jennifer Sukke, is a student of Ruth Aaseng of Alexandria.

A total of 4,000 students participated in the preliminary contest held in various sites across the state. Out of the 1,600 state finalists, 600 were awarded the opportunity to perform on 20 grand pianos at the mass recital.

The students learned and memorized one piece of music to perform with other students in their age group in the prestigious annual event.
