4-H Rabbit Fun Show held

The annual Douglas County 4-H Rabbit Fun Show was held Sunday, May 1 at the Brandon Auditorium.

The annual Douglas County 4-H Rabbit Fun Show was held Sunday, May 1 at the Brandon Auditorium. The rabbit project is one of many animal science projects available to 4-H youth.

More than 100 rabbits were exhibited by 49 youth from 11 counties.

Best of Breed and Best Opposite were awarded for breeds with five or more rabbits exhibited.

Douglas County winners included:

Mini Rex Best Opposite – Alexis Kokett of Alexandria.

Crossbred Best of Breed – Ali Patton of Alexandria; Best Opposite – Chris Johnson of Evansville.

Satin Best of Breed – Molly Schouweiler of Alexandria and Best Opposite – Madison Floden of Carlos.

A showmanship contest was also held. This measures the youth’s showing ability and overall knowledge of the rabbit project and industry.

Senior Showmanship Grades 9+ champion was Molly Schouweiler of Alexandria.
