The nation’s emergency medical services (EMS) providers will celebrate National Emergency Medical Services Week May 15 to 21, 2011. In honor of National EMS Week, American Medical Response (AMR), the nation’s leading provider of ambulance service, would like to thank the hundreds of thousands of EMS professionals nationwide who go above and beyond every day to help keep our citizens and communities safe.
“EMS Week always reminds me of how proud I am to be associated with the EMS profession and all of the practitioners who passionately dedicate themselves to making others better,” said Dr. Ed Racht, Chief Medical Officer for AMR. “These practitioners provide a safety net for all of us by responding to often unpredictable, sometimes catastrophic events that change people’s lives.”
During National Emergency Medical Services Week, EMS providers work with their local communities to promote safety and to honor the dedication of those who provide the crucial lifesaving services of medicine's front line. The theme for this year’s EMS Week is “Everyday Heroes.”
“It is because of the work of these highly skilled and dedicated EMTs, paramedics, transport nurses, physicians and first responders that our nation enjoys one of the strongest emergency response systems in the world,” said Mark Bruning, President of AMR. “EMS caregivers are medical professionals who respond every day to the needs of others. They do this selflessly day in and day out. The theme ‘Everyday Heroes’ truly embodies their work and the care they provide to us and our loved ones in a moment’s notice,” Bruning added.
In celebration of EMS week, AMR asks anyone who meets an EMS caregiver during the week to thank them for the work they do. These caregivers are truly Everyday Heroes who provide critical medical care in times of need.
