Local hospital receives prestigious recognition

Douglas County Hospital and Heartland Orthopedic Specialists were rated the number-one joint replacement provider in the state of Minnesota in 2011 by CareChex, surpassing all other hospitals in the state.

Douglas County Hospital and Heartland Orthopedic Specialists were rated the number-one joint replacement provider in the state of Minnesota in 2011 by CareChex, surpassing all other hospitals in the state.

In addition to this award, Douglas County Hospital was named as a “top 100” hospital in the nation for joint replacements by CareChex, an independent health care rating service.

Hospitals and institutions that receive the CareChex award provide excellent care in several clinical areas and orthopedic procedures. Hospitals in the top 100 must display superior joint replacement care as well as safety.

“We strive to provide Minnesota patients with the best orthopedic care possible,” said Dr. Paul A. Dale, joint replacement surgeon at Heartland Orthopedic Specialists. “The state and national recognitions wouldn’t have been possible without the surgeons and hospital staff’s experience and quality-care.”

Also awarded to Douglas County Hospital was the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Blue Distinction Center for Knee and Hip Replacements, a recognition that is awarded to hip and knee replacement providers who have established an outstanding record of orthopedic care.

Douglas County Hospital partners with area orthopedists to provide orthopedic care to residents throughout west central Minnesota. In 2008, Douglas County Hospital expanded its services to include the Total Joint Replacement Center, a more comprehensive approach to orthopedic medicine.

Services also include shoulder and elbow, hand and wrist, hip, knee, foot and ankle and sports medicine. For more information on Douglas County Hospital and its supporting orthopedic surgeons, visit www.DCHospital.com.
