Backhaus is 'Sertoman of Year'

Lee Backhaus (Backhaus Appraisals) was chosen as this year’s Sertoman of the Year for the Alexandria Sertoma Club.

His involvement in this club has been huge – past president, secretary, sergeant of arms, prayer, board member; he also currently puts together the Special Olympics and the Sertoma bulletin, and helps with the Service to Mankind banquet.

Backhaus is also very involved in the community with the following duties:

• Latoka Lake Association board member and president.

• Alexandria Youth Baseball Association board member and president.

• Alexandria Area Baseball Association board member and coach.

• Assistant youth soccer coach.

• Lakes Area Recreation girls basketball coach for six years.

• Lakes Area Recreation boys basketball coach for six years.

• Traveling team basketball coach for boys and girls.

• Traveling team baseball assistant coach.

• Board of Lay Ministry member at Zion Lutheran Church.

• Assistant Sunday school teacher at Zion Lutheran Church (two years).

• Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) board member.

• FCA Senior Huddle leader (eight years).

• Unity Foundation board member.

• Member of the Classic Clippers baseball team.

• Special Olympics volunteer.
