Annual MS walk scheduled

The National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society, Minnesota Chapter will hold the 2011 Walk MS: Christopher & Banks Alexandria Walk presented by Walser on Sunday, May 1. Check-in is from 10 to 11 a.m.

The walk begins and ends at City Park in Alexandria. Participants can choose between a 3- or 6-mile route and can walk individually or as a team. Volunteers are also needed.

Walk MS Alexandria is one of 17 events throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin that day. In Alexandria, more than 200 walkers are expected to participate.

Every hour in the U.S., someone is diagnosed with MS – an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system. Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis.

Money rasied from the walk will support programs and services for more than 10,000 people with MS and their families in the Minesota Chapter area and will fund research to stop the disease.
