Bengtson to lead writing workshop in Alexandria
To commemorate National Library Week, a writers’ workshop will be held at the Douglas County Library.
To commemorate National Library Week, a writers’ workshop will be held in Alexandria. A session will be held on Thursday, April 14 and will be repeated on Tuesday, April 19; both will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Douglas County Library. The workshop, “Our Lives, Our Stories,” will be led by David Bengtson of Long Prairie.
During the workshop Bengtson will discuss memoirs and autobiographies, with time for writing. Attendees are asked to bring a copy of Jon Hassler’s Good People if they have one.
Bengtson taught English at Long Prairie High School for more than 33 years. He has published three books of poems, as well as a collection of 71 prose poems titled, Broken Lines. His writing has appeared in numerous journals and anthologies and has been heard on Garrison Keillor’s The Writer’s Almanac.
