The face of United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties is continually changing. Different times of year bring new challenges and needs in our community to which United Way and its partner agencies reach out and provide a variety of services.
The United Way funds more than 40 partner programs in Douglas and Pope counties, while Community Impact continues to grow. As needs continue to increase, services continue to have to do more with less. Community Impact is able to mobilize the community to address the ever increasing needs that fall through the cracks.
In the past year, we have provided: students with backpacks full of school supplies, children with bags of food for over the weekend, kindergartners with milk for milk break, individual outerwear for the winter season, wood to heat families’ homes, access to fresh fruits and vegetables, free groceries each month, toys over the holidays, educational children’s books and much, much, more.
Who does this work? Who makes it possible? People just like you. The changing faces of United Way. People who give, advocate and volunteer…these are the people making a difference in the lives of friends, neighbors and co-workers every day. United Way is an agency whose life comes from people who care.
How can you be one of those changing faces? Give of your time, your talents and your treasure. Lend a hand; lend some muscle; volunteer; speak out on behalf of those who can’t speak for themselves; find out what opportunities are available. Contact United Way at (320) 834-7800 or www.uwdp.org.
United Way is working to advance the common good. Our goal is to create long lasting changes that prevent problems from happening in the first place. We invite you to be part of the change. Together we can inspire hope and create opportunities for a better tomorrow.
