Douglas County Lakes Association invites lake service professionals to attend the upcoming Aquatic Invasive Species Seminar on March 23 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Douglas County Public Works building at 526 Willow Drive, Alexandria. Organizer request the support of all lake professionals to help in the fight against the spread of invasive species.

The AIS Seminar for Lake Service Professionals on March 23 will provide all participants with a valid certificate of training. Professionals who attended previous AIS Seminars should attend again this year in order to receive the new certification; to learn up-to-date information on regional AIS infestations; to learn the regulations that apply to moving boats, docks, lifts and equipment.

Seminar sponsors encourage all boat, watercraft and dock dealers or installers as well as fishing guides and other lake service professionals to attend and participate in an informative presentation on what can be done to prevent the spread of all aquatic invasive species.

Minnesota DNR Invasive Species Biologist Nathan Olson and Conservation Officer Shane Siltala will present an overview of regulations that apply to moving boats, docks, lifts and equipment; recommended procedures for cleaning dock/lift installation tools, watercraft and waders and a summary of the infested lakes and rivers in the local area.

The Seminar is a collaborative effort between Douglas County Lakes Association, MnDNR and Minnesota Waters.

You can register at the door or RSVP with Courtney Kowalczak at courtneyk@minnesotawaters.org or phone (218) 343-2180.
