The Department of Revenue today announced that human error has resulted in the double-issuing of 14,000 electronic tax refunds. The refunds were first issued to taxpayer bank accounts on Friday and inadvertently issued again yesterday. The Department identified the error immediately and reversed payment on the second round of refunds. Affected taxpayers will see one of two identical refund deposits, one of which will be reversed tomorrow.

The Department is investigating the cause of the error and has taken steps to ensure that it does not happen again. Nearly 670,000 electronic refunds have been issued since the first of the year.
