Township residents to go to the polls Tuesday

On Tuesday, March 8 township residents across Douglas County will head to the polls to cast their vote in the 2011 township elections.

On Tuesday, March 8 township residents across Douglas County will head to the polls to cast their vote in the 2011 township elections.

Most township ballots will ask voters to choose a treasurer and/or one supervisor. All polling places close at 8 p.m.

The following is an overview of the candidates who will be on the ballot in your township:

• Alexandria Township

Residents will have the opportunity to vote for two supervisors – Julie Ann Feuling is running for the Supervisor D position, and Roger Thalman is running for Supervisor E. Voting will take place at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

• Belle River Township

Voters will have two people to choose from for the treasurer position – Angie Nelson and Vangie Miller are both running. Doug Steidl is running for the supervisor slot. Voting will be open from 1 to 8 p.m. at St. Nicholas Church in Belle River.

• Brandon Township

Elections are held in November of even years.

• Carlos Township

Dean Yohnke is running for treasurer, and Rodney Meyers is running for supervisor in Carlos Township. Carlos Town Hall is the polling place for voters.

• Evansville Township

Jeanine M. Henneman is running for the treasurer position and no one has filed for the supervisor position. Voting will take place at Evansville City Hall.

•Holmes City Township

One supervisor position will be on the ballot Tuesday – Arthur Isackson has filed for supervisor. Residents will vote at Holmes City Town Hall.

• Hudson Township

Residents will have a chance to vote for one supervisor – .Roxane Westergren has filed for the spot. The treasurer position is up for election, too, but no one has filed. Forada City Hall is the polling place.

• Ida Township

The ballot will feature Palmer Krueger running for treasurer and Mike Rosenwald running for the Supervisor A position. Ida Town Hall is the local polling place.

• LaGrand Township

James E. Jensen will be on the ballot for the supervisor position. LaGrand Town Hall is where you can cast your vote.

• Lake Mary Township

Residents will vote for a treasurer and one supervisor – James Schmidt has filed for the supervisor spot and Julie Freier is running for treasurer. Voters can head to Lake Mary Town Hall to vote.

• Leaf Valley Township

Barb Guenther will be on the ballot for treasurer and Brent Ost is running for supervisor. Voting will take place at Leaf Valley Town Hall Tuesday.

• Lund Township

Two women will be on the ballot for supervisor – Maggie (Margaret Ann) Dahlen and Carol Zickur. No one filed for the treasurer position. The town hall in Melby will host Tuesday’s election.

• Millerville Township

Larry Carlson will be on the ballot for supervisor and Patricia Bock has filed for treasurer. The Millerville Fire Hall is the township’s polling place.

• Miltona Township

Two men are vying for supervisor – Doug Hunt and Bob Upton. Connie Marshall has filed for the treasurer position. Votes can be cast at the Miltona Community Center.

• Moe Township

Patricia Botner has filed for treasurer. No one filed for supervisor. Moe Town Hall in Garfield is the site for voting.

• Orange Township

One supervisor position and a treasurer will be on the ballot – Newton Earl has filed for treasurer, and Bruce Massmann is running for supervisor. Voting will be open at Pollard Community Center in Osakis from 4 to 8 p.m.

• Osakis Township

One supervisor position will be on the ballot Tuesday – Brian Niehoff is the only person who has filed. Voting will be held at Pollard Community Center from 5 to 8 p.m.

• Solem Township

One supervisor position will be on the ballot – Curtis Hamen. Kevin Holl will be on the ballot for the treasurer position. Runestone Park is the polling place.

• Spruce Hill

Two people will be on the ballot for treasurer – Henry Ahrens and Terry Sather have both filed for the position. Larry Skoglund has filed for supervisor, and a second supervisor position has been vacated – Brad Lusty has filed for the spot. Voters can head to Spruce Hill Town Hall to vote.

• Urness Township

Two people have filed to serve as the township’s supervisor – William Frishmon and Ritchie Johnson. Shirley Thompson will be on the ballot for treasurer. Residents can go to Urness Town Hall to vote.

Many townships are also hosting their annual meetings before or after Tuesday’s elections.
