Minnesota artists are invited to submit proposals to design, create and install a permanent public art sculpture in Big Ole/Central Park in Alexandria. Special consideration will be given to artists living in the Lake Region Arts Council (LRAC) Region, which includes the counties of Clay, Becker, Douglas, Grant, Otter Tail, Pope, Stevens, Traverse and Wilkin. The concept for the public art is a Gathering Tree.
This sculpture will be a signature, inaugural piece in a highly visible and utilized public park that is envisioned to be a landmark gathering area with other public art and activities.
The winning artist will be provided up to $10,000. The award is solely contingent on whether the city’s Legacy Grant application is approved. The sculpture will become the exclusive property of the City of Alexandria.
