Jefferson math league team has final meet of season

The Jefferson High School (JHS) math league team had its fifth and final meet of the season on Monday, February 14.

The Jefferson High School (JHS) math league team had its fifth and final meet of the season on Monday, February 14.

The team competed with Breckenridge, Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls and Moorhead and finished in 4th place with a score of 36. Breckenridge and Detroit Lakes tied for 1st with scores of 41. Fergus Falls finished 3rd with a score of 37.

Top individual JHS scorers for this meet were Jen DeCock and Taylor Score with 10 points each.

JHS students participating in this meet included Jordan Arel, Alex Blaser, Kalli Bowser, Peter Brackin, Jen DeCock, Anna Erickson, Trevor Gibbons, Saige Glaser, Christine Johnson, Ben LeVahn, Katie Lovrien, Jade Mathre, Natalie Molloy, Kelli Montbriand, Ben Roers, Nicholas Schlapkohl, Taylor Score, Will Sieling, Katy Simonson, Leah Stinson, Carson Stowe and John Turner.

A divisional awards ceremony was held following the meet. The JHS team and several of its members were honored. The team received a plaque for finishing in 2nd place in the south half of the division. Between all eight schools in the division, JHS finished 3rd behind Bemidji (1st place) and Fergus Falls (2nd place).

Individual awards went to the following team members:

Taylor Score – 1st place in the division, top team scorer, 1st team all-conference;

Katie Lovrien – tied for 7th place in the division, 1st team all-conference;

Kelli Montbriand – tied for 7th place in the division, 1st team all-conference;

Jen DeCock – 2nd team all-conference;

Leah Stinson – 2nd team all-conference;

Jade Mathre – all-conference honorable mention;

Nicholas Schlapkohl – all-conference honorable mention.
