FERGUS FALLS, MINN. – Drinking acid? How does your heart work? What’s in pond scum? Inquisitive students can have those and many other questions answered during the Health and Science Showcase at Minnesota State Community and Technical College - Fergus Falls on Friday, Feb. 25.
The event is designed to highlight opportunities, majors and careers that are available in health and science on the Fergus Falls campus. Area science, health and mathematics teachers have been invited to bring their high school students, and prospective M State students also are invited to attend on their own.
Students will choose from sessions entitled CSI M State: Forensics Study; Drinking Acid; Shocking! Electrical Engineering; The Modern Day Mathlete; MLT: The Investigative Science; How Does Your Heart Work?; The Pond Life; Flubbery Bouncy Balls; and Saving SimMan.
Presenters are instructors and M State students in biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, medical lab technology and nursing. Students will rotate between three different sessions from 9:30-11:30, and lunch will be served from 11:30-12:30 in Legacy Hall.
“The Health and Science Showcase is designed to expose students to programs and majors that will be available to them in college,” said Enrollment Manager Kyle Johnston. “By participating in this event, students will experience the interactive learning that takes place at the college level. The sessions for this event will help spark students' interest in health, science and technology-driven careers attainable by completing two-year, four-year and professional degree programs.”
