CLC gymnastics: Alexandria receives sportsmanship award
The Alexandria gymnastics team finished eighth out of nine teams and came home with its third straight Sportsmanship Award from the Central Lakes Conference Meet at Sauk Rapids on Saturday.
The Cardinals finished with a team score of 129.525. St. Cloud Tech won the CLC meet with a score of 144.4, while Sauk Rapids-Rice (142.075) and Brainerd (139.575) rounded out the top three.
Sarah Sater put together a strong performance on the bars with an 8.675. Tahlia Bowden led the way on the beam, where she finished with an 8.525. Briquelle Bowden battled a knee injury and helped Alexandria out on the bars with a 7.3.
Bria Schueler started the Cardinals’ floor routine with an 8.0. Sarah Dolan also put together a strong floor routine, landing her front handspring, front full for the first time in a meet to score an 8.575. Rachel Sjostrand had an 8.2 on the vault. Anna Spanbauer had an 8.25 on the floor, while Tayler Kaufman put together a score of 7.025 on the bars.
Alexandria will now turn its attention to the section meet at Brainerd, scheduled for this Friday.
