Linda Roles, former executive director of the United Way, has moved into a consulting role with the organization.
In this role, she will support the current executive director, Jessica Boyer, and her staff in this phase of the executive director succession plan.
Roles served as executive director of United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties from July 1998 through June 2010.
Under her leadership, the organization has grown dramatically and numerous programs have been implemented to help serve the needs of the community, including Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Community Impact and the expansion of service coverage to include Pope County.
In July of 2010, at Roles’ recommendation, Boyer was appointed by the board of directors to executive director. Roles became director of fundraising.
According to local United Way leaders, Roles has shown an incredible commitment to the communities of Douglas and Pope counties. They said they look forward to working with her as she moves into this new role and fully anticipate that she will be an ambassador for the United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties for some time to come.
United Way is working to advance the common good by focusing on education, income and health. The organization said that these are the building blocks for a good life – a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement and good health.
