Card wrestling: Moorhead handles Alexandria in non-conference match

A young Alexandria squad was just no match for the Moorhead Spuds Tuesday night, falling on the mats 60-15.

Andy Bouressa, the Redbirds’ No. 9 ranked wrestler at 189 pounds in Class AAA, earned a pin in 2:09 over Kelvin Bennett, that coming after Trent Piepenburg opened the match with a pin at 103 pounds, sticking Taylor Laidlaw in 1:09.

Anthony Hubbard earned the only other Alexandria win on the night at 135 pounds as he decisioned Joseph Carpenter 8-5.

The Cardinals’ No. 9 ranked Cole Ellison suffered a loss in his 160-pound weight class at the hands of No. 5 ranked Chase Morlock, who edged the Alexandria senior 9-4.
