Card gymnastics: Eagles clip Cardinals
St. Cloud Apollo edged out the Alexandria gymnasts
The Alexandria gymnastics team had another close meet against a Central Lakes Conference opponent as St. Cloud Apollo edged the Cardinals 131.1-130.825 on Monday night.
Briquelle Bowden was dominant but the depth of the Eagles proved to be a little too much. Bowden was first in the all around with 35.6 points. She won the bars (8.7), beam (8.9) and floor (9.25) routines, while also taking third in the vault.
Tahlia Bowden was right behind her with a third-place finish in the all around. She finished with 33.275 total points, taking third on the bars (8) and beam (8.25) and fourth on her floor routine with an 8.6.
Sarah Sater and Anna Spanbauer added the other top finishes for Alexandria. The two tied for fourth with an 8.5 on the vault, while Sater added another fourth-place finish with an 8.05 on the beam.
The Cardinals have another home meet next Tuesday when they welcome Melrose to town. That will be followed by the CLC championships at Sauk Rapids on Saturday.
