Card swimming and diving: Rooney breaks record at Fergus Fals
Alexandria's seven-meet win streak was broken by the Otters
The Alexandria swimming and diving team saw its seven-meet winning streak to start the season come to an end as Fergus Falls ran away with things 116-70 last Thursday night.
The Otters were dominant on this night, outscoring the Cardinals in 10 of the 12 events. Alexandria’s only wins came from Aaron Rooney in diving (288.75) and Chris Vogeler in the 50 freestyle (23.32). Rooney’s performance set another high mark as he broke the Fergus Falls pool record.
The Cardinals had three season bests on the night. Sean Norheim had the most notable time drop of 2.1 seconds in the 100 butterfly. Austin McCulloch improved his 200 freestyle time by .2 seconds, while Austin Biskey cut .4 seconds off his 100 backstroke time.
Alexandria will be back in action against another strong Central Lakes Conference team tomorrow, Thursday. The Cardinals will welcome the Section 8AA True Team champs, Brainerd, to town for Parents Night in what is the last home meet for Alexandria this season.
