Boys Nordic skiers third, girls fourth at SJU

The Alexandria Nordic ski team had some extra time off between meets after its home invite was canceled because of dangerously cold temperatures this past Saturday.

The Cardinals got back at it on Tuesday as the boys took third and the girls finished fourth out of six teams at the St. John’s University PB&J Invite.

Jimmy Lovrien led the Alexandria boys on the 5K course. He crossed the finish line in 14:16, good for eighth place individually. Tyler Johnson was close behind him in 11th place with his time of 14:38. Cody Call (15:18) and Pat Flynn (17:57) rounded out the top four for Alexandria by finishing 15th and 37th, respectively.

Julia Sieling paced the girls with a top-five finish. She came in fourth with her time of 16:01. Melissa Gromatka, Leah Stinson and Lauren Hagstrom rounded out the top four for the Cardinals. Gromatka was 15th overall (17:12), Stinson 17th (17:42) and Hagstrom 23rd (18:57).
