Lakes Area skiers take second at St. Cloud

The Lakes Area Alpine boys’ ski team continued to make its mark as one of the top teams in the area at the St. Cloud Invite last Tuesday.

The Lakes Area Alpine boys’ ski team continued to make its mark as one of the top teams in the area at the St. Cloud Invite last Tuesday.

The Lakes Area boys wrapped up second place at the event with 137 team points. St. Cloud defended its home course by taking first with 161 points.

On the girls’ side, it was Annandale-Litchfield winning the event with 145 points. Alexandria was fifth in the five-team field with 93 points.

Wheaton’s Wolfgang Brink led the Lakes Area team to its second-place finish. He finished fourth overall with his two-run time of 54.75. Alexandria’s Dylan Sundberg was 11th with a time of 58.54. Jack Schneider rebounded from a rough first run and showed what he could do on his second with a time of 25.29. That was the sixth fastest second run.

Alexandria’s Tess Boucher led the way for the girls. She was eighth individually, finishing with a total time of 1:09.02. Katie Gieseke was 17th overall with a time of 1:18.15.
