The Alexandria VFW Auxiliary wants the first baby of the year to start off on a safe note. That’s why it annually donates a car seat to the first New Year’s baby born at the Douglas County Hospital. Auxiliary President Cecilia Haffner presented the car seat to Stacey Paulzine and Cory Lopez of Garfield. Their baby, Declan Ray Lopez, arrived exactly on his due date, Tuesday, January 4, at 4:18 p.m.
