The Garfield Fire Department was called to a house fire last Friday on the north side of Lobster Lake.
The Douglas County Law Enforcement Center received a 911 call about the fire shortly after 1:30 p.m.
The Garfield Fire Department, with mutual aid assistance from the Brandon Fire Department, responded to the address of 8563 NE Lobster Drive SW and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the residence.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, deputies learned that a local realtor owned the home and that nobody was currently living there.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and appears to possibly be associated with an auxiliary heater in the attached garage.
The home was a total loss, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Minnesota State Patrol and North Ambulance also responded to the scene.
