Splashing and pedaling into a new year at the Y

Despite the blustery weather outside, more than 600 people ventured into the Alexandria YMCA on New Year’s Day for a free family-style celebration.

Despite the blustery weather outside, more than 600 people ventured into the Alexandria YMCA on New Year’s Day for a free family-style celebration. Activities were offered in the gym and aquatics center all afternoon, and free “try it” group exercise classes were available. The event also collected more than 500 items for the Douglas County Outreach Food Shelf. Y organizers said the event was such a huge success that it will be offered again in 2012.
