'Hunt Down Your Photos' contest winners named

Steven Sherman First place honors in the Echo Press Hunt Down your Photos contest went to Steven Sherman of Garfield for this photo he took of his son, Colton, during his first duck hunt at Argyle, MN on October 9-10, 2010.

Stacie Kimball Second place went to Stacie Kimball of Alexandria for this photo of a boater heading out for an early morning fishing trip on Lake Alexander near Cushing, MN.

Talk about it

The winners of the ninth annual Echo Press Hunt Down Your Photos contest have been chosen. Winning photos were selected based on sharpness, lighting, setting and overall impact.

Other select photos from this year's contest entries may be published in the Lakes Are Outdoors special edition printed in the Echo Press in the fall of 2011.

Taking 1st place in this year's contest is Steven Sherman of Garfield, who submitted a photo of his son, Colton, during his first duck hunt at Argyle on October 9-10, 2010. Sherman received a $75 gift certificate to The General Store in Osakis.

Second place goes to Stacie Kimball of Alexandria for a photo taken of a fisherman heading out to fish on Lake Alexander near Cushing during the early morning hours. Kimball received a deer processing gift certificate valued at $69 for Osakis Meats and Deli (includes cutting, wrapping, grinding and freezing).

Honorable mention honors go to Jennifer Jopp of Alexandria for a photo of Will and Josie Hergott duck hunting in southern North Dakota; to Gary Sabolik of Kensington, who submitted a photo of a spring bear he shot in 2008 in Alberta, Canada; and to Jake Weber, who took a photo of Dean Krebs of Alexandria celebrating a successful elk hunt in Colorado this fall.
