Lawrence Adensam, 95

Lawrence Henry Adensam, 95, Carlos, died December 8, 2010 at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.

Lawrence was born January 22, 1915 in Carlos to Wenzel and Katherine (Trisko) Adensam. He was raised on a farm and attended country school in Belle River Township. He received his baptism and confirmation at the St. Nicholas parish, where he would remain a lifelong member.

Lawrence made his living on the farm, milking a dairy herd and raising Hereford beef, hogs and chickens. For a few years, he even tried raising sheep. Lawrence was the first farmer in the United States to raise large English black hogs. In addition to the farm animals, Lawrence also had a love for horses. He was a member of the Mid-Minnesota Draft Horse Association and enjoyed farming with his large draft horses. He was called on many times to bring his horses and wagon to town to give rides.

Lawrence had many interests and could often be found outdoors, enjoying the many birds and animals. Attending area bull and horse sales also kept him busy. He also liked to read, play pool, watch western movies and travel. His favorite dessert was any kind of pie!

Lawrence is survived by his sister, Louise Hillmer of Carlos; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wencil and Nicholas; sisters, Christine Wodicka and Mary Barten.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held for Lawrence on Saturday, December 18 at 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Belle River with Fr. Dave Petron officiating. Musicians are the Belles of St. Nicholas. Interment will be at the church cemetery with his nephews as pallbearers, Tom, Nick and Mike Adensam, Clifford Barten, Dennis Hillmer and Ron Zeithamer.
