Christianson is player of the week in Mossouri Valley league

Drake senior Kristin Turk (Des Moines, Iowa) and freshman Angela Christianson (Alexandria, Minn.) earned Missouri Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week honors, respectively, for the week of November 29 - December 5, the conference announced Monday.

No Drake tandem has swept the MVC weekly awards since February 6, 2006.

Christianson continued her hot start with a pair of double-digit scoring games. The freshman opened the week with 14 points, two assists and a career-high nine rebounds against North Texas. She followed that effort with a career-high 17 points on 4-of-6 shooting, including 3-of-4 from three-point range, in Drake’s 76-51 victory at North Dakota. Christianson added four rebounds, three assists and three steals while going a perfect 6-for-6 from the line.

In total, Christianson scored 31 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, while making 5-of-11 from three-point range and a perfect 10-of-10 from the line.
