Letter - Losing more rights and freedoms

To city hall: What is the fire fee for?

First of all, it is not a rate increase when there was none to begin with. It is a whole new ordinance, and I must ask myself, what are you thinking and what do you people do? Sit around and think of new ways to squeeze a few more dollars out of everybody? Like, hey, let’s make it an ordinance and charge them for enjoying a nice summer night in their backyard (if it’s not a Saturday night, when the races are so loud you can’t hear yourself think – oh, but that’s different).

How about this one? Why don’t you hire someone to monthly inspect our refrigerators to see if they are at the proper temperature and, if not, make it a misdemeanor and charge them $100.

Talk about too much government. This is embarrassing and sickening. If you don’t have enough money for every pet project, then I say too bad. I don’t either, and a lot of other people. Or haven’t you noticed?

I’m fed up of losing more rights and freedoms to government. It’s our government – we the people for the people …
