After recounting all the ballots it looks like there is a new unofficial winner in the Osakis School Board race.
One extra vote was found for Monica Klimek in the Osakis city ballots for Douglas County. She and Aimee Goodwin were tied for the third school board seat after the November 2 election, with 591 votes.
The two drew cards at a school board meeting on November 8 to determine the winner but agreed beforehand that the one with the lowest card would request a recount. Goodwin ended up drawing the high card.
The recount of the Todd County portion of the ballots did not find any additional votes for either candidate.
The recount team began manually reviewing the ballots in Douglas County Monday morning, November 15 and started tabulating the Todd County ballots Tuesday.
The Pope County auditor’s office reported that nobody registered to vote from that county in the Osakis School District. Due to that reason, both candidates signed off their agreement that the recount team did not need to go to Pope County.
The vote will not be official until the Osakis School Board meets to canvass the results, possibly Monday, November 22.
