The Canadian Pacific Railway Holiday Train is stopping in Alexandria on Tuesday, December 14 at 1 p.m. It will arrive at the railroad crossing near the Hubbard Feed Mill at 8th Avenue and Nokomis Street.
The festively decorated Holiday Train is fun to see, but it also serves a larger purpose – to raise awareness of hunger in the community. According to the Holiday Train website, the goal of the Holiday Train is to collect food and money for local food banks and to raise awareness of the fight against hunger.
At each event, the Holiday Train provides a boxcar stage, a lineup of musical talents and a Canadian Pacific corporate contribution to the local food bank. The community is encouraged to donate food and funds, all of which stays local.
