Author to speak about boys and reading

Minnesota children’s author and educator John Coy will speak to parents, teachers and college students about boys and reading on Wednesday, November 17 at 7 p.m. at Discovery Middle School in Alexandria.

Coy will explore some of the reasons boys get turned off from reading and offer specific suggestions to address the interests of boys and engage them in reading. He speaks frequently on the topic and has been heard on Minnesota Public Radio.

Coy’s books will be available for sale and for signing. Clock hours will be available for teachers.

The presentation is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by Viking Library System and funded from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage fund.
