This week, November 8-12, is Winter Hazard Awareness Week in Minnesota and in Douglas County.
Each year, the National Weather Service and the Minnesota Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management promote winter safety and individual preparedness for all citizens where they are – in their homes, on the road, at work and at play.
Unfortunately, many people each year suffer needlessly because they are unaware of the potential dangers of the winter seasons, said Sheriff Troy Wolbersen, Douglas County Emergency Management director.
During Winter Hazard Awareness Week, the National Weather Service will issue daily statements pertaining to winter safety.
These statements will be broadcast over the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) All Hazards Weather Radio and sent over the NOAA Weather Site.
