Letter - Sheriff's office faces challenges

To the editor:

I am writing to thank the citizens of Douglas County for your support over the last four years. Your votes on November 2 were greatly appreciated. I look forward to continue serving you as your sheriff.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has many challenges to face now and in the future. We have seen changes in crime trends and also have some major projects to complete. We are near completion on our jail. We are also mandated by the FCC to change our entire radio system by January 1, 2013. That project is still ongoing.

I am fortunate in that I have a very capable and professional group of employees supporting these efforts to serve the citizens of Douglas County.
