Cardinal's Piepenburg second, boys' cross country team ninth
Alexandria junior Jamie Piepenburg finished as the State Class AA runner-up at the cross country meet in Northfield today, finishing behind the state's top-ranked runner, Maria Hauger of Shakopee.
Hauger ran a 14:18.9, while Piepenburg crossed the line at 14:33.1.
The Cardinal boys' team finished ninth overall, as junior Will Sieling led the team with a 17th place finish. Zach Hodgson was 32nd, Zac Bartolomeo was 51st, Mitch Ronning 53rd, Mitch Evink 65th, Elijah Hartsell 68th and Jimmy Lovrien 93rd.
Wayzata was the top team with 61 points, putting four of their runners in the top 20.
