Fire damages garage, home near Forada

A fire destroyed a garage and damaged a home south of Alexandria Tuesday afternoon.

A fire destroyed a garage and damaged a home south of Alexandria Tuesday afternoon.

The Forada Fire Department responded to the smoky blaze shortly before 4 p.m. at the residence of J.D. and Jill Ellingson at 7977 North Meades Addition Drive SE near Union Lake,north of Forada.

The Alexandria Fire Department assisted at the scene. Several tankers of water were hauled in to fight the fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but it is believed to have started in the garage, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

North Ambulance was called to the scene but everyone was out of the house and no injuries were reported.
