Nelson Wellness Center introduces 'SilverSneakers' programming

SilverSneakers programming is now available at the Nelson Wellness Center in Alexandria for Medicare-eligible members of participating health plans.

Involvement in the program is free for qualifying members with no minimum monthly visits required.

Interested individuals are encouraged to attend an open house from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, November 10 to learn more about the programming option available to NWC members. The Nelson Wellness Center is located at 1220 Nokomis Street.

SilverSneakers Muscular Strength and Range of Movement classes are offered on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Nelson Wellness Center. This program is designed to help participants increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills.

Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

The Nelson Wellness Center, open to community seniors 50 and older, features both studio and cardiovascular rooms with age-friendly equipment. Signature programming options include NeuroFit, Active Aging, Drums Alive, Boot Camp Body Sculpt, Sign Chi Do and other group exercise classes.
