Gerald John Klimek, 73, Henning, formerly of Millerville, died Thursday, October 21, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Henning.

Gerald was born December 19, 1936 to Edmund J. and Barbara M. (Thoennes) Klimek at home in Millerville Township. He grew up in Millerville and attended public and parochial schools. He worked at the Millerville Creamery before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1955. Following his honorable discharge in 1957, he returned to Millerville.

He was united in marriage to Lucille E. Wark on April 25, 1960 at Church of Seven Dolors in Millerville. He farmed on his family farm until 1982, when he started trucking on his own. He worked for Polman Transfer, Minn-Dak Trucking and later worked road construction with Central Specialties.

Gerald enjoyed horseback riding, four wheeling, hunting, fishing, the outdoors and puzzle books. He was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Henning and was a former member of the Millerville Town Board.

He is survived by two sons, John (Verona) Klimek of Garfield and Larry (special friend, Sally Wicklund) Klimek of Eagan; two daughters, Debbie (Jim) Guy of Zimmerman and Julie (Paul) Debilzen of Parkers Prairie; two brothers, Erwin (Virginia) Klimek of Alexandria and Del (special friend, Bev Dowell) Klimek of Garfield; two sisters, Delrose (Harland) Dreger of Alexandria and Corrine (Eddie) Koep of Millerville; four grandchildren, Rachel Klimek, Sara Thoennes, Kyle Debilzen and Dustin Debilzen; along with nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a granddaughter, Amber Klimek.

Mass of Christian Burial was read Tuesday, October 26 at 11 a.m. at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Henning with Fr. LeRoy Schik officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery. Pallbearers were his four children and two brothers.
