Paid Political Letter - Christians need to stand together

Can we separate politics from religion? The obvious answer is yes. God created us free to choose. He hoped we would, of course, choose his way, or the narrow way.

To the editor:

Can we separate politics from religion? The obvious answer is yes. God created us free to choose. He hoped we would, of course, choose his way, or the narrow way.

As Christians we are called to make informed decisions in the light of what is moral and acceptable to God. God gave us the guidelines in the holy Bible, the Ten Commandments and in the great command, “Love the Lord your God with thy whole heart and the whole strength and thy neighbor as thy self.”

Today, “love of self” means that whatever feels good or is best for me at the time is morally acceptable. The individual dictating what is morally acceptable is putting our whole civilization at risk.

It is time for Christians to stand together and say enough:

• killing of the unborn, called abortion, under the guise of a woman’s right.

• killing of the terminally ill and elderly under the guise of having compassion.

• human cloning where man plays God in the name of advancing science.

• discussion about homosexual marriage in the name of tolerance.

We can separate politics from religion at great risk to our community, our country and ourselves. God bless America.
