Local DFL organizes 'Rally to Support Working People'

Working families everywhere are struggling. Many people cannot find the kind of jobs that pay enough to make it possible to get ahead.

Working families everywhere are struggling. Many people cannot find the kind of jobs that pay enough to make it possible to get ahead.

Those things that Minnesota used to be known for – jobs that provide meaningful work and a living wage, adequate food and shelter, safe communities, health care, and a good system of public education seem to be moving farther away, according to local leaders of the DFL.

These issues of the working people, DFL leaders said, are the center of what the election of 2010 is all about.

On Saturday, October 23, the Douglas County DFL will sponsor a Rally to Support Working People.

It will take place at the Barn near the Holiday Inn in Alexandria, from 4 to 7 p.m.

This will be an opportunity to meet and hear the DFL candidates for Minnesota Senate District 11: Jim Thoreen – Senate; Bennett Smith – House 11A; and Amy Hunter – House 11B.

Speakers and information will focus on topics and policies that concern working people in this election, including solutions that DFL leaders say will benefit the middle class, and not the wealthiest individuals and corporations.

There will be music, light snacks, speakers, and a chance to visit with policy makers and other working people.
