Minnesota author Will Weaver will be in Alexandria this week.

He’ll be at a book signing at Cherry Street Books in Alexandria on Thursday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Later that day, at 7 p.m. Weaver will speak at the meeting room of the Douglas County Library in Alexandria. His visit will be hosted by the Friends of the Library.

Also, a showing of the movie, Sweet Land – based on Weaver’s short story, A Gravestone Made of Wheat, shot on location in southern Minnesota – will be presented Thursday, October 28 at 7 p.m. at the library.

Both those events are also free and open to the public.

Weaver is the author of many highly acclaimed, award-winning works of fiction for both adults and young adults. At the October 21 event, he will talk about his writing and introduce his latest book, The Last Hunter, an examination of family, life on the land and those things we hold dear enough to want to carry along, one generation to another.
