Verna Bullick was born in Grygla, Minnesota, the daughter of Edwin and Anna (Miliander) Wahlin. The family moved to the Eagle Bend area when Verna was a young child and she attended Red Oak Country School and graduated from Eagle Bend High School in 1944.

Verna started work in the medical profession with Dr. Sather and later moved to the St. Luke’s Hospital in Alexandria and then to Douglas County Hospital. She continued her work as a lab technician at the Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs in 1962.

On February 2, 1963 she was united in marriage to Raymond Bullick and the couple lived in Minneapolis. Verna worked there in a physician’s clinic as a lab technician. The couple retired in 1990 and built a home in Eagle Bend. Verna moved to the Central Todd County Retirement Home in early 2010 and that is where she died.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Bullick of Eagle Bend and several nieces, nephews, and friends. Verna was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Amy Angen, Doris Eckel, Grace Navratil and Ardith Wahlin.

Funeral services were held on Monday, October 4, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria with Lyle Schober and Harriet Cossentine officiating. Music was provided by Mark Wahlin, Cleon Wahlin, Wayne Henderson and Cindy Timmersman. Interment was in the Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria with Dennis Postma, Elroy Anderson, Dean Peterson, Buddy Olson, Don Slather and Bill Himmelwright serving as pallbearers.
