Recruit a friend and double your lifesaving impact

If you’re looking for ways to increase the impact of your blood donation, you can encourage your friends and family to become dedicated blood donors also by sending an American Red Cross eCard, inviting them to donate with you, or coordinating a blood drive in your community or workplace.

Visit redcrossblood.org to send an eCard, learn about hosting a blood drive and to schedule an appointment. Through October, blood donors can also register for a chance to win a 2011 Ford Fiesta through Red Cross Racing.

Following are the upcoming blood drives in Douglas County:

• October 19 – 1 to 7 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Evansville.

• October 25 – Noon to 6 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria.

• October 26 – Noon to 6 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria.

For information on blood donation or to make an appointment, call 1-800-733-2767 or visit the website redcrossblood.org. All blood types are needed. A blood donor card or driver’s license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.

Individuals who are 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood.
