Card swimming and diving: Alexandria girls succumb to St. Cloud Tech

The Cardinal girls were able to come away with two individual wins as they fell to St. Cloud Tech 114-72 Tuesday night at the Discovery Middle School pool, dropping Alexandria to 1-5 overall.

“The Cardinals and Tigers, tied at 39 at the half, looked destined to be locked in a real dog fight for the evening,” said Cardinal head coach Mark Storhaug. “However, St. Cloud took control after the diving intermission, winning every event and outscoring Alexandria 75-33.”

Megan Bristow’s victory in the 200 IM and Rosey Erickson’s win in the 50 free were the only two first place finishes for the Cards. Bristow swam to her win in 2:32.08 and Erickson’s time was 25.84.

Alexandria did put together 13 season bests as Bristow had two, along with 8th grader Kate LeBrasseur.

“The biggest improvements, however, came from Kallie Zieman slicing more than two seconds in the 200 free (2:30.52), Jenna Kremer raising her diving total by 17 points (135.55), Zoe Weltzin cutting two seconds in the 100 fly and Rachel Hansberry dropping five seconds in the 500 free,” said Storhaug.
