United Way's Chili Cook-Off is one hot event

The United Way's 13th annual Chili Feed and Silent Auction in Alexandria today was a huge success, according to organizers.

The United Way's 13th annual Chili Cook-Off and silent auction in Alexandria today was a huge success, according to organizers.

A total of 38 chili cook-off contestants competed for distinguished awards. Here are the winners:

--Best display – Gardonville Telephone Cooperative

--Best Display Runner-Up – Tina & Lena

--Best Display Honorable Mention – Village Family Services

--Hottest Chili – Alexandria Fire Department

--Open Division – Massman Automation Designs

--Most Unusual – Knute Nelson

--Commercial Division – Tennessee Roadhouse

--People’s Choice – Alexandria Light and Power

More than 80 volunteers helped with the event and more than 730 people attended. Businesses contributed more than 220 silent auction items and helped with promotion.
