Sheriff: Stay out of Pine Island

Heavy flooding has effectively closed the city of Pine Island, according to the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a press release issued Thursday afternoon, non-residents found in the city will be subject to arrest.

“There is limited road access into the city and unless you are a resident of Pine Island and have proof of your residency, you will not be allowed into the area,” the release states.

People currently on dry ground in the area are advised by the sheriff to stay put. The release states no volunteers are needed in the area.
