The Alexienne Chapter of the Sweet Adelines is presenting “The Alexiennes and Friends: A Musical Matinee” on Sunday, October 10 at 2 p.m. at Broadway Ballroom in Alexandria. Also featured in the event will be the Pope County Men’s Chorus and Sax Appeal.
The Alexienne Chapter of Sweet Adelines provides entertainment and educational opportunity for women to sing a cappella four-part barbershop harmony. The chorus is comprised of women from Alexandra and the surrounding communities. Membership is open to all women who love to sing.
The Pope County Men’s Chorus represents nine churches in the area. They try to perform in each of these churches every year. They have a repertoire of more than 80 songs that they perform at spring concerts, holiday shows and other occasions.
Sax Appeal is the father/daughter team of Chuck and Michelle Wencl. Chuck has been playing the saxophone since 5th grade. He studied at the Navy School of Music and received his degree in music education from the University of Minnesota-Morris. Michelle has been singing professionally for six years, singing jazz, pop and country. Sax Appeal performs at several local venues.
Tickets for the dessert show are on sale through October 3 at any of the Trumm Drug (Alexandria, Elbow Lake, Glenwood and Parkers Prairie locations), from any Alexienne Chorus member, or by calling Kari at (320) 762-8757. Tickets are $15 and will not be sold at the door.
