Hintzen, Huwe earn Purple Ribbon auction scholarships

Meg Hintzen and Heather Huwe of Douglas County 4-H received Minnesota purple ribbon auction scholarships.

Meg Hintzen and Heather Huwe of Douglas County 4-H received Minnesota purple ribbon auction scholarships. They were recognized for their personal growth and leadership through their 4-H experiences. They received $1,000 scholarships to pursue their post-secondary education.

Hintzen, of Carlos, is a leader, telling the story of 4-H and agriculture through educational activities in the class and after-school 4-H classes. She mentors Cloverbuds in the swine project and teaches livestock quality assurance and ethics. She attends the University of Minnesota, where she is majoring in dairy and swine production. She is the daughter of Leonard and Jodi Hintzen.

Huwe, of Alexandria, raised all the registered Suffolk ewes she exhibited. She also exhibits market lambs and has received several purple ribbons that earned her a spot in the purple ribbon auction. She is attending Alexandria Technical and Community College in marketing and sales management with plans to work in agribusiness. She is the daughter of Kevin and Lisa Huwe.
