JHS students earn AP scholar awards

Ten students from Jefferson High School (JHS) in Alexandria earned Advanced Placement (AP) Scholar awards in recognition of their achievement on AP exams.

Ten students from Jefferson High School (JHS) in Alexandria earned Advanced Placement (AP) Scholar awards in recognition of their achievement on AP exams.

The College Board’s AP program provides students with the opportunity to take college-level courses while still in high school and to earn college credit, advanced placement or both for successful performance on the AP exams.

Kyle Fulghum, Colin Ryan and Paul Yager qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor award by earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of the exams.

Emily Geris, Keely Gross, Mary Haglin, Catherine Lovrien, Paul Strand, Zachery Van Orsdel and Joseph Wymore qualified for the AP Scholar award by completing three or more AP exams with scores of three or higher.

Lovrien and Van Orsdel are currently seniors. The other students are 2010 graduates of JHS.
