It’s back-to-school time for everyone, including seniors. You are never too old to learn something new.
We will be hosting fall classes starting in October for all seniors in Douglas County, free of charge. Come join us and exercise your mind and learn something new.
Monday, October 4: Senior Housing Tour, 1-4:30 p.m. Meet at Arabella Manor, 1810 Darling Avenue East in Alexandria, and take the Rainbow Rider bus to tour the Galeon Campus in Osakis, back to Windmill Ponds in Alexandria and back to Arabella. Register with Community Education at (320) 762-3310.
Monday, October 11: Health Care Directives, 1-3 p.m. at Douglas County Public Works, 526 Willow Drive in Alexandria. Make your wishes known. Who will speak on your behalf concerning your health care if you are not able to? We will have Health Care Directive forms available for you to fill out and take home. Everyone should have one.
Monday, October 18: Long Term Care Partnership, 1-3 p.m. at Douglas County Public Works, 526 Willow Drive in Alexandria. Is Long Term Care insurance right for you? It isn’t for everyone. Find out what the state of Minnesota is doing to give Minnesotans a break if they purchase long term care insurance. Learn how we pay for health care as we age. What choices do we have?
Monday, October 25: What does Douglas County have to offer for retirees? 1-3 p.m. at Douglas County Public Works, 526 Willow Drive in Alexandria. Find out what resources are available for health care and opportunities for fun, education, volunteering, etc.
Monday, November 1: Medicare and Health Care Reform – What is new for 2011? 1-3 p.m. at Douglas County Public Works, 526 Willow Drive in Alexandria. Are you soon eligible for Medicare? Have you been on Medicare but not sure what Medicare Parts A, B, C and D are all about? What changes are coming down the road for Medicare? Find out now and don’t be surprised when we turn our calendars over to 2011!
