Card boys' soccer: Alexandria's game with Willmar ends in 0-0 tie
Neither team could gain any ground on the other in the Central Lakes Conference standings when the Alexandria soccer team played to a 0-0 tie against Willmar on Tuesday night.
Willmar had a chance to break that tie near the end of the game. Remigio Becerra sent a shot from the top of the penalty box that hit the post in what proved to be the best opportunity his team would have to break the tie.
Willmar outshot Alexandria 14-5 but nothing got past keeper Scott Hennen. He stopped all 14 shots sent his way, while Patrick Courtney did the same to preserve the tie.
The split kept both teams from gaining ground on one another in the middle of the CLC standings. Alexandria held onto fifth place in the league with a 2-1-1 record. Willmar is right behind with a 1-1-2 mark after Tuesday’s game.
